MANILA – Veteran singer Regine Velasquez thanked her fans for respecting their family's privacy as her father continues battling an illness.
In an interview with “The Buzz” aired on Sunday, Velasquez said her father is still trying to get well after undergoing a major operation.
“Prayers pa. We are still fighting and we are still asking God na sana dugtungan pa ang buhay ni Papa so we can spend more time with him. I want to say thank you to everybody for understanding, for giving us days, time, privacy,” she said.
Her husband, singer Ogie Alcasid added their family truly appreciates all the support and prayers from Velasquez’s fans, as well as from their friends in showbiz.
“Lahat ng fans ni Regine mahal na mahal si Papa Gerry,” he said.
In a post in the image-sharing site Instagram last week, Velasquez can't help but express her concern over the health of her father.
"I had a perfect day today, perfect weather, I was able to rest I got to spend time with my booboo and be a wife to my husband. Sana lang talaga gumaling na si papa, but still I feel very Blessed. Thank you Lord God for today," she said.
Velasquez reiterated that it would be of great help if more people would continue to pray for the immediate recovery of her father.
Despite her father's condition, Velasquez took time to attend the 5th Star Awards for Music on Sunday night, where she was named Female Concert Performer of the Year for her anniversary concert "Silver."
