MANILA, Philippines -- Vice Ganda made his debut appearance in "Juan dela Cruz" Friday as the glamorous and fast-talking "queen" of half-human, half-horse creatures known in Philippine folklore as the "tikbalang."
In the July 5 episode of the ABS-CBN primetime series, the 37-year-old comedian as Santana leads creatures of her kind in a quest for revenge on fairies, who sealed them off to rot in a dense forest.
With a portal to the realm of fairies opened, Santana wastes no time to plot their first steps for vengeance: kidnap Mira (Shaina Magdayao), the well-loved princess of their rivals.
Meanwhile, in the human world, Juan (Coco Martin) starts work on unleashing the holy whip as a new weapon formed by the steel cross, or "bakal na krus."
In an earlier interview, Vice Ganda said that a fight between his character and that of his real-life best friend, Martin, will likely be seen in future episodes of "Juan dela Cruz."
Vice Ganda is the latest star to make a guest appearance as a pivotal character in the series, after the likes of Gretchen Barretto, Jhong HIlario, Bugoy Carino, Epi Quizon, Ella Cruz and Jane Oineza.
The top-rating series airs weeknights after "TV Patrol," during ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block.
