MANILA – Actress Jodi Sta. Maria is still in the dark as to what the movie version of her hit daytime series “Be Careful With My Heart” will be about.
“Be Careful With My Heart,” the movie, is an official entry to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), along with the Star Cinema co-productions "Pagpag" and "Boy, Girl, Bakla, Tomboy."
In an interview with morning news program “Umagang Kay Ganda” on Wednesday, Sta. Maria said she is looking forward to shooting the movie but has yet to read the final script.
“Hindi ko pa alam kung ano ang mangyayari since kakatanggap lang nung story namin sa MMFF. Kapag nagkaroon ako ng news about it, ipapaalam ko sa inyo. Baka may masabi ako, lagot ako sa manager,” she said.
In an earlier interview, Yap said the film version of "Be Careful With My Heart" will serve as a continuation of the events seen in the Jeffrey Jeturian and Mervyn Brondial-directed daytime series.
But Sta. Maria said this new project also makes her a bit nervous. “Iba na naman 'yung endeavor na susuungin ng team ng ‘Be Careful With My Heart,’” she said.
Since Sta. Maria is the movie’s lead actress, will she be also gunning for a best actress award?
“Ako naman yung mga ganyan, bonus na lang ang mga ganyan. As long as I get to do what I love to do, I’m fine with it,” she said.
Sta. Maria, who was nominated for best actress at Tuesday's Gawad Urian Awards for her performance in the indie film "Aparisyon" but lost out to Nora Aunor in "Thy Womb," said she is just happy to be blessed with a wonderful career.
“Right now I couldn’t ask for anything more. I just want to thank God for continuing to bless me. Kasi ang daming blessings. Feeling ko kung hihiling pa ako sobra sobra naman na,” she said.
Asked how she and Maya are similar in real life, Sta. Maria said: “Siguro 'yung pagiging maaruga, malapit talaga. Hindi ako nahirapan doon kasi may anak din ako. 'Yung pagiging masiyahin niya, ganun din naman.”
However, Sta. said: “Inaaral ko pa kung paano maging kasing positibo ni Maya sa buhay.”
