As part of Star Magic Circle 2013, Julian Estrada, son of senator Jinggoy Estrada and grandson of former president Erap Estrada, said he is not at the point where he would even consider a career in politics after finishing his studies. Julian is an incoming junior high school student at the OB Montessori in Greenhills, San Juan.
“As of now, hindi ko pa iniisip yung sa pulitika kasi gusto ko muna mag-concentrate sa showbiz. Naghintay ako ng matagal kaya ngayon gusto ko ito na,” he admitted. Before Star Magic Circle, Julian said he had a stint in his dad's movie Katas ng Saudi. Julian said he will always be there to support his family during their campaign period.
The soft-spoken Estrada said he even got advice from his lolo Erap before he formally joined showbiz. “He told me just to be humble and matuto makihalubilo,” he said. Because of his now busy schedule, Julian said he has not had time to talk to his dad Jinggoy about show business. “Maaga kasi ako natutulog, 7:30 am pasok ko sa school so pag 6am nagigising na ako,” he told Push.com.ph.
Julian said his parents did not disapprove when he first told them about his showbiz aspirations. “Basta habang pumapasa sa grades, wala akong problema sa kanila. Basta passing grade na mataas (laughs). Tamang-tama ni-launch kami sa Star Magic Circle nung last week ko na sa school tapos vacation na namin ngayon kaya okay lang yung timing,” he explained.
Apart from attending acting workshops, the 17-year-old newbie said he has always dreamed of becoming a singer. “Wala pang projects ngayon pero sana meron soon. Sa singing I want to do R&B siguro or rock. Internationally, I like the band Paramore because I like their style,” he said.
At 5'7”, he said he also enjoys playing basketball when he has time for sports. When asked who he would choose to be his leading lady if he were ever given the chance, Julian didn’t hesitate to admit it would have to be his Star Magic Circle batchmate and Gretchen Barretto's niece Julia. “Kasi we're close friends naman. Last year lang kami nagkakilala nung Star Magic Ball. Kahit sino naman basta ba may chemistry kami para mas ma-feel yung roles namin,” he admitted.
And although it is rumored that he is already courting the young actress, Julian said it is too early to assume that and that they have become real close because of they have been spending more time together in workshops and events for Star Magic Circle. “We're just close friends,” he clarified.
