Yeng to receive citation from Singapore Rock Academy

Yeng Constantino is off to Singapore to receive a special citation from the Academy of Rock Singapore, a music school “dedicated to teaching rock and popular music.”

Her moment is part of the Academy's event scheduled on Saturday, March 2, at the Star Performing Arts located within the city-state.

She will be cited for her contribution to Original Pilipino Music.

Grateful
"Sobrang grateful po ako sa citation na ito. Excited na po ako pumunta d’un and play some songs," she told the press at a recent gathering at Insomnia Bar in Centris, Quezon City where she promoted her latest album “Metamorphosis.”

According to Yeng, AOR is based in Europe with a branch in Singapore and Manila. Yeng performed during the Manila launch of the academy last year.

She is also performing at the academy’s charity rock event in Singapore, scheduled on the same day she receives her citation.

Called Rock With Heart—Up Where We Belong, the concert will raise money in part to help build 20 houses that were washed away when Typhoon Pablo barreled through Davao Oriental in December of 2012.

Career high

The Singapore honor and gig top off Yeng’s recent career high: that of recently bagging three major nominations for the upcoming MYX Music Awards set on March 20.

The music video for her single "Pag-Ibig" was nominated for Favorite Music Video Category, while she herself received nomination for Favorite Artist and Favorite Female Artist.

When asked by a columnist how she feels about having established herself more firmly than most of her colleagues in Pinoy Dream Academy, the reality talent show which she won, Yeng responded in frank, polite tone: "Ayoko po talagang kinukumpara ako sa ibang artists. Ang masasabi ko lang po sobrang blessed po ako at hanggang ngayon nano-nominate pa rin ako sa MYX Music Awards."

Edgier

Yeng's new album "Metamorphosis" tries to present her in a new mode, with red hair and an edgier rock sound.

She wrote most of the 10 tracks in the CD release of the album, which comes packaged with a DVD containing 6 music videos including those for her carrier single "B.A.B.A.Y" and "Pag-ibig."

"B.A.B.A.Y.," about a special someone who left without saying goodbye, is perceived as the one best representing her artistic transformation.
