Charlene, Aga want to visit typhoon-hit areas

MANILA – Former beauty queen Charlene Gonzales and her husband, actor Aga Muhlach, are planning to fly to the Visayas to personally help those affected by super typhoon “Yolanda.” But this will not happen anytime this week as the government is still trying to make it easier for relief goods to get into the affected areas, Gonzales said. “I plan to go to Tacloban or Ormoc when things start to clear up. My understanding kasi medyo parang hndi makapasok pa. When things start to clear up, baka by next week or the week after, may plano kami ni Aga na pupunta kami doon,” Gonzales said. For now, Gonzales said she will keep herself busy by volunteering in various organizations with ongoing relief operations. “I’ve been joining different fund-raisers and relief operations. I’ll be joining Sagip Kapamilya, Unilever, Red Cross. I’m really encouraging others to go out and try to give support and help na kailangan ng ating mga kababayan,” she said. Saying this is the time when Filipinos should be united, Gonzales said: “My heart really goes out to our kababayans who go through this tragic moment. Naiyak talaga ako. We should really help 'yung ating mga kababayan na nasalanta sa bagyo.” Gonzales also urged Filipinos to stay united. “I’m asking everyone to go out and help kung kaya niyo, in your own little way,” she said.

Emotional Charlene lauds Aga for election fight

MANILA – Television host Charlene Gonzales fought back tears as she talked about the experience that she and her husband Aga Muhlach went through during the recently concluded mid-term elections. Speaking on “The Buzz” where she’s one of the hosts on Sunday, Gonzales said Muhlach’s perseverance to seek a congressional seat so he could serve the people only made her love him “a hundred million more times.” “During this whole process, I say I’m proud of Aga because he showed so much strength. I admire him even more today because 'yung laban ni Aga, there was a point in time na it wasn’t about Aga anymore but about the fight for the people,” she said. Amid the accusations of cheating during the elections, Gonzales said she is proud because her husband fought for what he believed in. Felix William "Wimpy" Fuentebella was declared winner in the tight congressional race for Camarines Sur’s 4th district. Fuentebella got 82,834 votes against Muhlach’s 80,629 votes.

Aga Muhlach’s boat explodes, driver hurt

MANILA, Philippines — A speedboat owned by actor Aga Muhlach exploded early Saturday, injuring the driver, his lawyer said. In a statement from Michelle Juan forwarded to the Philippine Daily Inquirer by Muhlach’s manager Ethel Ramos, it said that Aga and his wife, Charlene were not on the boat when it exploded around 6 a.m. in Caramoan, Camarines Sur. The driver, identified as Jerome Pervera, sustained injuries on his leg, arm, back, and face, but was expected to be released Sunday from the Caramoan emergency hospital. Juan quoted initial reports as saying that the engine and gas tank ignited and then exploded. Juan said that the Muhlachs have been secured in an undisclosed location in the province but were closely monitoring the situation. “They [the Muhlachs] are relieved that no one was seriously injured, and are grateful for the outpouring of concern for their safety and security,” said Juan. The explosion occurred in the midst of Aga Muhlach’s congressional bid in Camarines Sur in May although no link has yet been established between Saturday’s incident and his political campaign.
