Raymart trying to live a normal life

MANILA – Raymart Santiago seemed happy and at peace when he appeared at a fashion event over the weekend along with his brother Randy, and athlete-actor Benjie Paras. This comes amid his legal battles with estranged wife, actress Claudine Barretto, whom he accused of having a history of drug abuse and mental illness. In an interview with ABS-CBN News at the sidelines of the fashion show, Santiago shared that going out with his family and friends helps him cope with what’s happening in his life. “Kagaya nito, kumbaga itong event na ito, kapamilya namin ang nag-imbita. Sa everyday, as much as possible gagawin ko lahat ng gusto ko ring gawin para kahit paano makalimot din. Tuloy ang buhay,” he said. In his effort to live a normal life, Santiago said it has also helped that he is now working on a show. “Nag-umpisa na rin ang trabaho ko. Oo, dapat naman talaga normal ang buhay,” he said. Refusing to talk about the issues surrounding his family, Santiago said he is just happy to have a breather and be seen somewhere else other than inside a courtroom. “Mabuti naman for once, wala sa korte. I can do what normal people do, manood ng show kasama pamilya at kaibigan,” he said. Santiago and Barretto were married in a Church wedding in March 2006. They have two children -- an adopted daughter, Sabina, 9; and a biological son, Santino, 6. Their separation was only revealed last August by the actress’ mom.
