Sharon says Kiko not part of pork barrel scam

MANILA - Actress Sharon Cuneta used the microblogging site Twitter to clear the name of her husband, former senator Kiko Pangilinan, in the P10-billion pork barrel scam. Replying to a Twitter follower, Cuneta maintained that Pangilinan's pork barrel during his term was "well accounted for." On Thursday, former officials of subsidiaries of the Department of Agriculture named Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada, and Ramon “Bong” Revilla as having endorsed their pork barrel funds to supposedly bogus non-government organizations. Businesswoman Janet Napoles is said to be the mastermind behind the scam, which siphoned lawmakers’ pork barrel to ghost projects and eventually to private pockets. Last July, Pangilinan said he is not against the idea of abolishing the pork barrel, noting that it is "open to abuse." "If it cannot be implemented properly, then it should be abolished," he said. Back as Kapamilya? Also on Twitter, Cuneta addressed speculations that she is set to return to ABS-CBN. The actress, dubbed as the country's "Megastar," is currently a talent of rival network TV5. Cuneta left ABS-CBN in November 2011 to move to the No. 3 network for a reported P1-billion contract for five years.
