Charice wants to return to 'Glee' in gay role

LOS ANGELES -- Singer Charice has a renewed appreciation for her loyal fans who stayed with her after she came out on national TV. Even in the US, where she's staying until the end of the month, Chasters, as her fans are called, let her know they have her back. "Nakaka-touch na lumalapit sila sa akin tapos kino-congrats nila ako. It's like they're congratulating me for my freedom and everything, " Charice said. Charice told her US management team that she would like to audition for Hollywood movies and TV shows while she's in California. "Yun 'yung unang-unang sinabi ko sa kanila na gusto kong gawin. Kasi parang nahihilig din ako sa acting. But this time I want to play weird na roles. Seryoso, lagi nila akong pinagtatawanan na gusto kong maging serial killer, ganyan," she explained. Her big wish, however, is to return to the hit US TV show "Glee." Even before she became part of its cast during the show's second season, she said she has always admired how the show supported LGBT issues. "Definitely. I would still love to play Sunshine. Very open, sobrang inspirational, dahil totoo," Charice said. The singer also reported that she's almost done working on her latest album "Chapter 10." One of its singles is "Unexpected Love," which she dedicates to girlfriend Alyssa Quijano. Charice wrote the song with "The Voice US" semi-finalist Cheesa and her brother, Troy Laureta, who is Charice's musical director. The singer considers the Lauretas like her own siblings and were among the first ones to know about Quijano. "Syempre proud. Kinikilig ako. Proud ako kasi first time ako na mag-re-release ako ng original song na talagang may meaning para sa akin," she said. Since admitting their relationship, this US trip is the first time that Quijano and Charice have been separated. "Yan tuloy pinalungkot mo ako, hindi joke lang, pero kaya nga may Skype tayo. Pero okay lang. Para nami-miss naman," said Charice. Charice is hoping that the Chasters will support her new album that talks about the new chapter in her life. After finishing her Hollywood commitments, Charice will return to the Philippines to start promoting her "Chapter 10" album. -- Yong Chavez, ABS-CBN News, Los Angeles, California
