Ai Ai plays down ex's move to cite her for contempt

MANILA – Comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas is unfazed over the reported move of her estranged husband, businessman Jed Salang, to cite her for contempt for violating a gag order issued by court in connection to their controversial separation. In a Skype interview with “The Buzz” that aired on Sunday, delas Alas she is certain that she never discussed details of the case in her media interviews before she left for the United States last June 19. “Sabi naman ni attorney walang basis iyon kasi never naman ako nagsalita about sa case. Kahit anong interview ko, siyempre artista ako kaya ini-interview ako, so sinasagot ko yung about sa pag-alis namin. But about sa case, wala akong sinasabi,” she said. In Salang's contempt petition detailed in the report, the businessman said delas Alas violated the gag order when she allegedly granted two separate interviews pertaining to their separation -- one aired on the ABS-CBN talk show "The Buzz," and the other, published on entertainment magazine YES! According to delas Alas, Salang’s camp is free to review the videos of her interviews. “Kahit ulit-ulitin nila sa ‘The Buzz,’ parati kong sinasabing no comment. Kung sinasabi nila yung Yes! magazine, one month prior sa gag order, tapos na 'yung interview. Bahala na si attorney,” she said. Meanwhile, delas Alas said she is coping well following the failure of her marriage with Salang. “Okay ako and nagpe-pray ako for the healing process. Ang pain naman, wala namang shortcut iyan eh. It’s a process. Alam kong nandiyan parati ang Panginoon and si Mama Mary to guide me,” she said. Delas Alas previously filed a case against Salang for violation of the Anti-Violence against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 at the same court's Branch 94, where she also sought a permanent protection order against the businessman. The charges stem from delas Alas' allegations aired in a controversial interview on "The Buzz" aired in May, wherein she claimed she was physically abused by Salang. The former couple, who were married in a civil wedding on April 3 and separated on May 2, faced the court in a pre-trial conference in relation to the charges on June 19. US vacation Meanwhile, delas Alas shared how she has been spending time with her three children in the United States. “Dito sa bahay, normal kasi naglalaba. Sabihin nila, ‘Ma, pakiplantsa nito.’ Nagpaplantsa ako, naglilinis, naglalaba. Nakakatuwa. Naramdaman ko ulit 'yung pagiging nanay ko, pagiging ordinary, 'yung hindi artista. Masaya kasi nakikita ko 'yung mga anak ko na parang parating Pasko, masaya,” she said. Aside from spending more time with her children, delas Alas said her month-long vacation in the US also helped her know more things about herself. “Na-realize ko na [ang dami palang] mga sumuporta sa akin, nakakatuwa kasi sinusuportahan pa rin ako ng samabayanang Pilipino,” she said. Delas Alas added: “Kapag naiisip ko ang mga nangyari sa akin, nawawala. Tinitignan ko lang silang tatlo. Baka ito ang mission ko talaga and baka may dadating pang ibang mission.” Delas Alas is set to return to the Philippines on July 22.
