MANILA, Philippines -- Veteran impersonator Willie Nepomuceno reminded his fellow comedians to always remember that they are responsible for their own jokes.
Kahit komedyante ka or artista ka, basta kaharap mo ang publiko,” he said in an interview on the morning show “Umagang Kay Ganda” on Thursday.
This comes after a controversy erupted when comedian Vice Ganda poked fun at broadcast journalist Jessica Soho's weight in a sketch about celebrities as bold stars during his most recent concert.
Nepomuceno is currently one of the guest judges for the Kalokalike segment of the noontime show “It’s Showtime,” which is co-hosted by Vice Ganda.
While Nepomuceno is known for also poking fun at personalities, including political leaders such as former Presidents Joseph Estrada and Ferdinand Marcos, he said he makes it a point to put “limits” on his jokes.
“Ibig sabihin, kumbaga mayroong something that you can take. Of course there are basic issues na hindi mo dapat tina-touch,” he noted.
Responsibilidad iyon,” he added.
