MANILA, Philippines -- Jodi Sta. Maria said the annulment of her marriage with former partner Pampi Lacson is underway.
At the sidelines of a press conference held Tuesday launching her latest endorsement, the 30-year-old actress said she and Lacson have made steps to legally end their 8-year marriage.
"Well, on the way siya," Sta. Maria told reporters, when asked if she is seeking the annulment of her marriage.
Asked if the legal move has proven costly, the actress said, "Kahit anong libot mo naman talaga sa Pilipinas, ganoon talaga, e, magastos talaga."
Lacson and Sta. Maria were married in March 2005. They separated in March 2011.
They have one son, Panfilo Lacson III, nicknamed Thirdy.
Sta. Maria is now in a relationship with actor and incoming Cavite Vice-Governor Jolo Revilla. Lacson, on the other hand, is in a relationship with actress Iwa Moto, with whom he is expecting a baby.
Despite their separation, Sta. Maria said she and Lacson have remained in touch for their son.
"I would say na civil kami ngayon. We have to be civil for our child. If there's anything na pinag-uusapan namin, it's about Thirdy. Basta anything na tungkol sa welfare niya, sa school niya, iyon ang pag-uusapan namin," Sta. Maria said.
She added: "We don't have to be friends, but we have to be the best parents that we can be four our child. Basta tungkol lang sa bata."
Explaining that Thirdy is "aware of the situation," Sta. Maria also shared that her son is welcoming of the idea of having a half-sibling -- Moto and Lacson's first child.
Sta. Maria, whose relationship with Revilla was confirmed late last year, also denied on Tuesday that her seeking the annulment of her marriage has something to do with supposed plans to wed the actor.
"Like I've said before, I've never lost faith in love, but marriage is a different thing. It's a different story. Right now, hindi pa ako ready," she said.
