MANILA, Philippines -- Showbiz golden couple Richard Gomez and Lucy Torres took a break from the campaign trail in Ormoc, Leyte to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary and the actor's 47th birthday in their hilltop residence in Carlota , Ormoc on Saturday.
The couple were married in April 28, 1998 in a grand wedding production aired on ABS-CBN.
Torres was then an ingenue in the advertising world as a fresh-faced model of of a shampoo brand.
Gomez, then and now, was an A-list actor who was among the most eligible bachelors of the country.
Looking back, the couple said they were destined to be together.
"Richard opened a new world for me in showbiz and politics," said the re-electionist congresswoman Torres, who professed that her only target as a Grade 6 student was to be the actor's girlfriend.
"Malaki utang na loob ko kay Lucy," Gomez said. "She taught to be closer to God and how to deal with people. And I did not think that one day I will run for mayor of Ormoc."
After the elections, Gomez vows to finish their next project together -- to have another baby by 2014.
The couple have one child, 12-year-old Juliana Gomez.
