MANILA, Philippines - While he is happy with his showbiz career and the success of his newest series, afternoon soap "Dugong Buhay," actor Ejay Falcon still dreams of going back to school.
In an interview during a press conference for "Dugong Buhay," Falcon said he wants to study filmmaking or management in the University of the Philippines.
"Gusto kong mag-aral. Gusto kong makapag-aral sa UP. Gusto ko talaga," he said.
"Kahit ano. Iniisip ko nga, filmmaking talaga. Gusto ko filmmaking or management," he added.
Falcon then noted that UP has produced some of the country's top directors.
"Sa UP, doon nanggaling ang magagaling. Ang dami kong nakausap, like si Direk Lauren Dyogi, direk Malou Sevilla, UP sila," he said.
'More serious' roles
Meanwhile, Falcon is looking forward to doing "more serious" roles in the future, similar to his character in "Dugong Buhay," where he does both action and drama scenes.
Falcon said he had to learn tai chi for his newest project.
"Ang pinakamahirap dito, ito kasing 'Dugong Buhay,' kumpara sa dati kong teleserye, ito ang pinakamabigat kasi gumagawa ka ng drama na nag-a-action ka. Mahirap kasing pagsabayin 'yon, action at drama.
"Nakikipagsuntukan ka habang umaarte ka, mahirap gawin 'yon at tai chi. Sakit ng katawan ang aabutin mo diyan, 'yung mga routines," he said.
While he said he will accept any role, Falcon said he would rather stay away from "pa-cute" characters.
"Sana ay magtuluy-tuloy itong gaya ng 'Dugong Buhay,' ganito kabibigat. O mas mabigat pa, mas okay sa akin. Parang ayaw ko munang balikan 'yung pagpapa-cute o umiikot sa love team. Alam ko 'yung mas mabigat, 'yung ganito. Gusto ko 'yung mas nahihirapan ako, mas nacha-challenge ako," he said.
"Dugong Buhay," which also stars Arjo Atayde, Jed Montero, Yam Concepcion and Ketchup Eusebio, has consistently ruled its time slot since it aired on April 8.
The series is under the direction of Mikey del Rosario and Toto Natividad.
