Sarah Geronimo confirmed that she shed tears when she and Kim Chiu hugged each other at the dressing room of Himig Handog Finals held at the Mall of Asia Arena last night, February 24. For the first time, the two met face to face and even comforted each other given the controversies that somehow connected them to the Gerald Anderson-Maja Salvador romance.
On her part, Sarah revealed that she wanted to hug Kim ever since the whole issue about Gerald and Maja being an item came about. “[Ngayon lang kami nakita na] parang expressive? Oo, kasi sabi ko, kailangan ni Kim yun, ng yakap, at ahh...kailangan ko din yun. Hahaha! Hindi, yun naman eh...basta gusto ko lang talaga siya yakapin,” said Sarah in an interview with Push.com.ph and other entertainment media on the set of Sarah G Presents earlier today, February 25.
Sarah further shared that it was a poignant moment between her and Kim. Their circumstances may be different, but it was like showing empathy towards another girl who felt similarly betrayed by the situation. “Hindi nagkita kami pagkarating ko [dun sa dressing room]. Nauna kasi ako tapos sumunod na siya. Tapos parang bebeso lang siya, eh tumayo ako kasi gusto ko siya talaga i-hug. Syempre medyo ano, teary-eyed [ako]. Tinatanong niyo pa [kung bakit],” said the Popstar Princess who has been very vocal that she got hurt when Gerald suddenly stopped courting her last year.
Sarah refused to say, however, what they told each other during that brief encounter. Although she hopes that Kim appreciates her gesture of comfort, Sarah said that being friends is something that develops over time. “Meron po [kaming exchange of words]. Secret na [kung ano]. Sana [na-appreciate niya yung hug ko]. Pero yung friendship kailangan may time talaga ‘yan para mapatunayan na totoo. Hindi lang dahil hinihingi ng sitwasyon o dahil nagkataon lang.”
On a brighter note, Sarah agreed that it was a good way of closing a painful chapter in her life. “In a way, oo. Iba rin kasi yung peace din [after] nung kainitan nung issue na ‘yun. Siyempre gustong-gusto ko siya yakapin or i-comfort. Masarap lang din sa pakiramdam na na-i-express ko kay Kim yung gusto ko.”
