Enchong Dee and Julia Montes Split up

MANILA, Philippines – A week after admitting things have changed between him and Julia Montes, actor Enchong Dee on Sunday confirmed that they had a relationship but refused to say they were officially a couple.

In a live interview with “The Buzz” on Sunday, Dee said he and Montes indeed became more than friends and were just waiting for the actress to turn 18 before going public about their relationship.

“I was just waiting for her to turn 18 in three months' time. Iyon na sana iyon eh, para kahit sinong magtanong, official na yes, oo, kami. Pero ang daming nagho-hold back because she is only 17. When we started going out, she's only 16. So parang ang tagal ko talagang hinintay,” he explained.

“Pero kung tatanungin mo kung more than friends or naging kami, I can say na parang ganun na kami. Oo [naging kami] pero we can't concretely say na yes naging kami because I was really waiting for her to turn 18,” Dee added.

The “Ina Kapatid Anak” star, however, said he is sad that this blossoming romance did not end well.

“It's because of the time. 'Yung last part of 2012, ibang klaseng hectic ng schedule na even my brothers, my parents, I can't see them even though nakatira kami sa isang bahay. Naging malaking factor 'yung time kaya hindi nag-prosper 'yung whatever it is,” he said.

Asked if he is still planning to pursue Montes anew, Dee said: “Hindi ko talaga alam eh. How I wish kaya kong sagutin at the moment, na sana kaya kong bigyan ng sagot ang mga nanonood pero hindi ko talaga alam.”

Meanwhile, Dee said he is not in the position to comment on reports that actor Coco Martin is planning to court Montes once she turns 18.

“Hindi ko alam. Kasi siyempre I'm not involved in that anymore. I don't want to include myself on that part,” he said.

The actor also said he won’t feel bad if he sees Montes with other men – but only if he knows she is happy.

“No [hindi ako masasaktan] if I see that smile that I'm looking for. When people get married, mayroon kang smile na nakikita na magiging masaya siya with that person forever. Lahat naman tayo naghahanap ng forever,” he said.

Looking back, Dee said he learned one important lesson when it comes to love.

“Never be too complacent. Huwag mong gagamitin 'yung word na okay na iyan, sapat na iyan kasi baka mamaya hindi pa pala 'yun enough,” he said.
