Is American Idol Literally for Americans?

The Battle for the American Idol Season 11 has ended. Phillip Phillips won as the new singing champion of the season with 132 Million home viewers votes.

During Tuesday nights performance Phillips and Sanchez required to sing 3 songs in the last attempt to impressed judges and home viewers.

Jessica: "The Prayer"

Phillips: "Movin Out"

On the first round Jessica only got Tyler's vote with her rendition of "The Prayer" and both Steven and Jennifer liked Phillips interpretation of "Movin Out".

Jessica: "I Have Nothing"

Phillips: "Stand by Me"

At Round 2 Jackson said "I think that round was a dead heat, I'd call them both even".

Jessica: "Change Nothing"

Phillips: "Home"

Round 3, Jessica's potential winning song "Change Nothing" did nothing for her, since it became a bit of a disappointment. While Phillips "Home" fit his personality and made a marked to the judges.

Let's make a recap to the choice of songs:
Round 1: Is American Idol Simon Fuller's choice.
Round 2: Finalist Favorite Song of the Season.
Round 3: Potential Winning Song Written and Produced for them.

For Jessica Round 1 Good, Round 2 Even, Round 3 Disappointment? This made me ask why? What happened to her really? Did the choice of song and supposed to be winning piece made her lost the competition?

This made me think how many times Jessica made the judges proud and the times she had a standing ovation and made the viewers amazed, just to fail in the end.

Phillips is a good performer, he has his own charm. But Jessica is amazing she can sing songs you can never imagine her sing. Versatility with style as I can say.

If the choice of songs are different will it make Jessica the winner? Or maybe at least have a good fight for the Title. To have a million votes from the Americans like Phillip.
