Carmina Villarroel talks about hosting ‘Buzz ng Bayan’

Aniya, “Sobrang excited, sobrang happy, nakakanerbiyos kasi first time ko makakatrabaho talaga si Tito Boy (Abunda). Walang ganun, parang sinasabi niya this is our show, I want you to shine. Talagang before [the] pilot, nagbonding pa kami, may mga inputs pa siya so alam mong very hands on siya. Ang sarap ng ganung katrabaho kasi sa tagal niya dito sa industriya na alam mong pwedeng petiks na lang siya pero hindi e, makikita mo na very hardworing kaya ikaw napapagaya ka sa kanya. Although ganun naman ako to begin with pero napapagaya ka sa kanya, at ang dami mong natututunan sa kanya just by listening to him. Ang galing, ang galing, basta nakaka-amaze. Mas nakakaexcite more than nakakapressure. Iba’t-iba din ang reaksiyon ng mga manonood, una sa pagpasok nila ni Janice de Belen sa Buzz ng Bayan. “Siyempre nirerespeto ko naman sila. Ako naman ever since ang lagi kong iniisip you cannot please everybody. Siyempre may mga iba na mafi-feel nila na pinalitan namin, yung iba mas gusto sila [former hosts Toni Gonzaga and Charlene Gonzales] more than us. Pero I respect that, nirerespeto ko sila kasi opinyon nila yun pero hindi ako hurt. Kung ganun naman mas marami pa ring excited, mas marami pa ring naglo-look forward, mas maraming kumbaga, mas maraming masaya for me so dun na lang ako magde-dwell, hindi dun sa medyo malungkot.”

'The Buzz' makes way for Carmina, Janice

MANILA--Actresses Carmina Villaroel and Janice de Belen are set to join Boy Abunda on "The Buzz," following the cancellation of their show, "Showbiz Inside Report." They will replace hosts Toni Gonzaga and Charlene Gonzales, who already bade farewell to the viewers of the "The Buzz" on Sunday. "I would say that one of the best gifts that I received from this show was the friendship of you Boy and Toni," Gonzales said on her final "The Buzz" appearance. For her part, a thankful Gonzaga said: "Maraming maraming salamat kay Tito Boy. I learned so much from him. Ate Charlene, I told her this last week pa. I will always look up to you. I have so much respect for the both of you." Meanwhile, a teaser of "Buzz ng Bayan", which featured Villaroel, de Belen and Abunda, hinted a change of format for the 15-year-old entertainment talk show. Abunda said that while changes and saying goodbye to certain parts of the show make him emotional, everybody should look forward to bigger and exciting things to come. "You're saying goodbye to a part of the show kaya medyo may kaunting pagka-emosyonal. Pero it is exciting because it is bigger. It is new," he said.--report from TV Patrol, ABS-CBN

Carmina star-struck in 'surprise' interview with Lea

MANILA -- Carmina Villaroel, the self-proclaimed "No. 1 fan" of Broadway star Lea Salonga, was at a loss for words when she met her idol for an interview set up as a birthday surprise. Ahead of her 38th birthday on August 17, Saturday, the "Showbiz Inside Report" co-host had been told she would be interviewing actor Matteo Guidicelli for the program. A confused Villaroel was instead met by co-host and long-time friend Janice de Belen at the designated venue, before being brought by the production team of "Showbiz Inside Report" to a "mysterious" private residence in Muntinlupa City. To her shock, Villaroel was welcomed at the location by Salonga, who was tapped by the program as an accomplice in the birthday surprise for the TV host. The "Got to Believe" actress is said to be a long-time fan of Salonga, with an extensive knowledge of her career in theater, film and music. Villaroel also claimed to know by heart Salonga's full discography. In what Villaroel recalled to be her "longest conversation" with Salonga, they talked about the Broadway star's career beginning, growing up in the business, her family life, and her stint as a coach on "The Voice of the Philippines." After the taped interview aired Saturday on "Showbiz Inside Report," Villaroel recalled being overwhelmed by the experience. "Alam mo 'yung nagsasalita siya, pero wala namang rumi-register sa mga sinasabi niya? Kaya lumabas lang 'yung pagka-artista ko na, 'Uh huh, oh really?' Pero wala naman talagang naiintindihan! "Kasi habang nagsasalita siya, tinitingnan ko 'yung mata niya, 'yung ilong niya, 'yung ngipin niya! Kulang nalang 'yung ngalangala niya, alam mo 'yon?" she said, laughing. Villaroel went on to thank the production team behind "Showbiz Inside Report," before being presented with a reel of greetings from colleagues, friends and family.

Zoren, Carmina to co-host 'Showbiz Inside Report'

The 41-year-old actor will also be joining co-hosts Janice de Belen and Ogie Diaz in the 1st anniversary episode of the ABS-CBN entertainment talk show on Saturday. Legaspi will sit in for comedian-host Joey Marquez, who has temporarily left the program as he pursues a congressional seat representing the second district of Parañaque in the May 13 polls. "Unexpected talaga siya, hindi ko siya inaasahan," Legaspi said of co-hosting "SIR" with Villaroel. The real-life couple formerly co-hosted a morning talk show that aired on GMA-7 from 2011 to 2012. "Nabanggit sa akin si Carmina one day na parang interested ang 'SIR' na parang ako muna ang uupo sa upuan ni Manong Joey dahil nangangampanya siya. At the time, sabi ko parang hindi ata mangyayari 'yun dahil bihira ako sa Channel 2," he said. Legaspi was also one of the co-hosts of a showbiz-oriented talk show aired on TV5 until 2012. Shortly after his first sit-down interview with actress Maja Salvador and her mother as a co-host of "SIR," Legaspi said Friday that he intends to contribute to the program using his own "style of interviewing celebrities." The format of "SIR" centers on weekly "inside reports" by each of its co-hosts, where they sit down for an in-depth interview with celebrities on their life, career, and current intrigues they are involved in. The co-hosts then proceed to do a live round-table discussion after a report airs. "[Ang paraan ko ay] i-make sure that I'm a friend and not an enemy para mag-open up sila," Legaspi said. "In that way, both parties are happy. 'Yung show ng 'SIR' happy dahil mayroon silang nahuhugot doon sa celebrity. At the same time, 'yung celebrity naman magiging happy dahil nailalabas naman nila 'yung saloobin nila," he said. Tips from wife Asked on whether he has gotten tips from Villaroel on co-hosting the program, Legaspi said, "Huwag lang daw ako mag-blind item sabi niya." "Kasi sabi ko meron akong pang-blind item. Sabi niya, 'Hon, 'yung show namin hindi pang-blind item!' "'So 'yun lang 'yung kinakatakot niya sa akin nang live, baka raw mag-blind item ako. Meron akong mga alam, pero huwag na lang," he said, laughing. Explaining his "dream interview" as an entertainment talk show host, Legaspi said he only hopes that his interviews become an effective venue to address and clarify intrigues to arrive at the "truth." "Gusto ko 'yung may mga issues. I like to dig down there, malaman natin ang mga katotohanan," Legaspi said. "Kasi ako po, ang rules ko po sa showbiz, pag totoo, let's talk about it, pag hindi totoo, i-stop natin. Doon na na nagiging masama," he said. He added: "Pero if there's an issue na kailangan i-clarify, I think na dapat pag-usapan 'yan para hindi nagkakaroon ng kanya-kanyang opinyon."

Carmina hints Zoren may return to ABS-CBN

MANILA, Philippines - Actress Carmina Villaroel revealed that her husband Zoren Legaspi may join her at the Kapamilya network. In an interview with ABS-CBNNews.com on Tuesday, Villaroel stressed that Legaspi has no exclusive contract with other networks. "Si Zoren naman ever since wala siyang kontrata sa mga stations. Lagi siyang per show. So 'yun nga 'yung sinasabi niya na pakalat-kalat siya dito, pakalat-kalat siya diyan. So if ever man na gagawa siya sa ABS-CBN I guess it's fine kasi dati naman ay nakagawa siya ng 'Agua Bendita,'" Villaroel said when asked about speculations that Legaspi will be moving back to ABS-CBN. Asked if they could also do projects together, the actress replied: "Sa ngayon wala pa kasi. Ginagawa ko pa ang 'SIR' (Showbiz Inside Report) at ginagawa ko po ang 'May Isang Pangarap.'" No more babies In the interview, Villaroel also said that she it seems unlikely that she and Legaspi will try to add a baby to their family. The couple have twins, Cassie and Maverick, who are now 12. "Naku parang hindi na yata. Baka hindi na, kasi medyo malayo na ang age gap. Gusto ko sana pero parang malayo na," the actress said. "I mean we are not really trying pero kapag dumating eh di sige open kami, thank you, kung hindi okay lang din." Right now, Villaroel is enjoying her time with her children, who are very supportive of her works as an actress and as host of ABS-CBN's "Showbiz Inside Report," which will celebrate its first anniversary this Saturday with a very special co-host. The actress declined to name their guest co-host, but hinted that the person is very close to her and her co-hosts Janice de Belen and Ogie Diaz.
