Lindsay Lohan ‘to be offered rehab deal’

Lindsay Lohan will reportedly be offered a 60-day rehab stint as a plea bargain. The actress has been indicted for reckless driving, obstructing or resisting a police officer in the performance of his duty and giving false information to authorities following a car crash on June 8 of last year. She is accused of lying to police after telling them her assistant was behind the wheel at the time, which he has denied. The star's probation for an earlier jewellery theft case has been revoked and her trial will start on March 18, with Lindsay facing 245 days in jail. It was previously reported that she had turned down a plea bargain which would see her in a treatment facility for nine months and it's now been suggested a new deal will be offered to her lawyer today.

"Sources tell us... the Santa Monica City Attorney is prepared to offer Lindsay 60 days in a residential rehab facility in her lying-to-cops case - where she said she wasn't driving the Porsche. That's four months less than the original offer," reports TMZ. As part of the deal Lindsay will also apparently be ordered to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. According to the site, alcohol was found next to Lindsay's vehicle after the crash. It is alleged she smelt of drink, although a sobriety test was not conducted on her by police. Lindsay is also likely to be ordered to complete community service, likely in New York City. One sticking point is said to be the legal people involved with Lindsay's probation violation case. They were reportedly vying for her to get jail time, although that has seemingly changed. Lindsay's lawyer Mark Heller will discuss the deal today. He is now representing her, after she split from her long-standing attorney Shawn Chapman Holley.
